Oliver Stone presents a delightfully convoluted tale involving virtual reality, mind control and bald-faced deceit. And the over-the-top, inspired mania Loggia brings to the televangelical, psychotically manipulative cyber-entreprenuer, whose actions are the pivot of the movie, is truly a joy to behold. Belushi plays a TV executive who comes under the influence of nefarious senator Loggia, the megalomaniac behind a virtual reality process. As Belushi loses control of his own senses and morality, he becomes involved in murder and conspiracy.

Various directors helmed different segments, but lush production design and outstanding special effects aid the continuity. Given the satisfaction of its various parts, its surprising that the effort isn't completely successful -- becoming unfocused two-thirds of the way through. Despite this, Wild Palms remains thoroughly enjoyable.
