Warwick Wilson (David Hyde Pierce) and John Taylor (Clayne Crawford) compete in trying to get the goat of each other. They are two dangerous characters who match each other step for step. John is on the lam from a caper that went bad and looks for a place to hide. He cons his way into Wilson’s home and John soon becomes the victim. Roles were reversed from what we thought would be.
Warwick Wilson seems to be a mild mannered man and then his home is invaded by bank robber, John Taylor. Wilson was expecting dinner guests but he allows Taylor into his home. From that point on we have a cat and mouse game between three people—in addition to Wilson and Taylor, we have a police detective who is under the impression that he is closing the books on a bank robbery but the invasion by Taylor changes everything.
Nick Tomnay cleverly directed this film which was a hit at Sundance and it combines thriller with comedy. The acting is excellent all around and while not perfect, this is a very clever movie.
