The Fall of the House of Usher: Corman graduated (for a time, anyway) from quickly produced exploitation pictures to heavily atmospheric, adult-themed horror films with this, his first of eight film adaptations of the works of Edgar Allan Poe. Price stars as the tragic Roderick, last in the doomed line of Ushers. Philip Winthrop (Damon) arrives at the House of Usher to sweep away his fiancée Madeline, Roderick's sister. Roderick, however, will not allow her to leave, and Damon becomes a hopeless bystander. House of Usher is an unusually realized Gothic horror story; its expertly executed art direction, cinematography and musical score all contribute to its eloquence, and Richard Matheson's chilling screenplay was also a remarkable beginning in a line of Poe adaptations.

The Pit and the Pendulum: After investigating the death of his sister, Francis Barnard (John Kerr) discovers that it may not have been a blood disease that killed her but an attack of extreme fear...and she may not be dead, but burried alive!
