Trapped (Charlize Theron)

Theron plays the wife of a wealthy anesthesiologist who will do anything to ensure her daughter's safety when she's kidnapped. These hoary plot twists slowly grind Trapped through the typical, unimaginative middle-of-the-road thriller tropes until its laughably bad climax. When it isn't crushingly dull, the film is rather unpleasant (this milks the situation of a cute little girl in jeopardy till it's dry). The sole redeeming feature is young Fanning, who is effective as the smart, resourceful, but terrified kidnap victim. Nobody else bothers to try, and no one could really blame them.
