Set in an all-girls' Catholic boarding school in Europe, this milestone film is a tender glimpse at the erotic affair of two young women. Unlike many other works of the period, this provocative drama offers a non-exploitative picture of budding female sexuality, some very hot love scenes and lots of schoolgirl emotional tension. With voice-over narration taken directly from Viloette Leduc's autobiographical novel, is genuinely sweet and subtle production bordering on soft-porn. Filmed in black and white.
