A troubled, young newlywed couple, looking for a place to make "whoopee" or something stop at a deserted hotel. Here they meet their host - filling in for Bob Eubanks - The legendary Countess Bathory (Delphine Seyrig)! Aided, as always, by her trusty, nubile assistant Ilona(Gothy Andrea Rau), the two unleash a frenzy of depravity and bloody violence. Stalked and seduced, the couple soon discover that the Countess is in fact an ancient vampire who enjoys enjoys bathing in the blood of virgins to relax as well as reduce the signs of aging (a little beauty tip passed on by her undead colleague Dick Clark).
Beautifully filmed, despite a clearly low budget, this classic lezbo-vamp thriller is rife with graphic sex (ahem... that's "whoopee") and violence. Delphine Seyrig stays clad in lush furs and exotic clothing while the other three leads spend a good chunk of the movie making "whoopee" and getting naked. And while this psychosexual shocker has absolutely nothing to do with the TV game show "The Newlywed Game," it still doesn't mean that Eubanks himself isn't a blood-thirsty lesbian vampire ...
The 2-disc Special Edition continues the "Sapphic Vampire Newlywed Game" fun with Vicente Aranda’s Euro-shocker The Blood Splattered Bride! Starring Alexandra Bastedo as Carmilla, another undead chick with a taste for blood ...and vadge (insert tampon joke here). Hot for twat, Carmilla haunts the dreams of a beautiful newlywed, luring the blushing bride away from her honeymoon and hub for some bloody mayhem and freaky "whoopee."
To paraphrase the great Bob Eubanks - Remember, you don't have to be a lezzy-bloodsucker to act like one.
REVIEW
One from the vaults! Seyrig stars as a Hungarian countess and present-day vampiress who, in order to continue her daily blood baths (a youth and beauty preservative), must continually prowl for nubile virgins. Her blood-gathering soirees take her to Belgium where she, along with her lesbian secretary, seductively stalks the hotel for a quick fix. Bela Lugosi she's not. Campy, funny and erotic, this Gothic tale explores the darker side of sexuality with shocking frankness. (Filmed in English)
