This may be the future of reality TV: an uncensored, warts-and-all look at an outrageous family. And while it's a screwball comedy of sorts, director Miike (whose best-known work is Audition) trots out a whole series of over-the-top antics sure to make you squirm: father-daughter incest, necrophelia, S&M, and the most lactation since Woody Allen's Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex.... Even while scraping the exploitation barrel for laughs (however uncomfortable), Miike keeps the production values high. The editing keeps everything going at a snappy pace, and the video photography effectively conveys a reality-TV feel, even while keeping the whole sordid affair at a level that can rightfully be called 'art'.
