SKINOPSISJeremy Irons takes a break from not fucking the dude who he thinks is a chick to get some honest-to-goodness action from honest-to-goodness female Annabel Leventon who sits on a bed totally naked revealing an awesome full-frontal glimpse while waiting for Jeremy Irons to spear her with his pork sword. -- Rick Stanko
REVIEW
The much-anticipated screen version of David Henry Hwang's hit play is something of a letdown. Inspired by a true story, the tragic tale is about a man's self-delusional love for and betrayal by an alluring Chinese woman who is actually a man. A deer-in-the-headlights-like Irons stars as Rene Gallimard, a nebbish accountant at the French Embassy who falls in love with an opera singer, Song Liling (Lone). As the two begin an affair, Gallimard rises in rank at the embassy, unknowingly disseminating government secrets. The action unfolds slowly and the film's emotional level never seems to rise above the simmering point of grand tragedy. You Might Also Like
