1985, 90 min A.K.A.: Night of the Alien, Splatter Country: US Studio: Subversive Cinema Cast: Edwin Neal, Marilyn Burns Director: Ronald W. Moore Rating: R Our Rating: Not yet reviewed. SKINOPSISNothing futuristic, not too many actually killed either and - despite liner notes to the contrary - no real victims of nuclear fallout. No sir, just a bunch of punky, glam-rock, road-warrior looking anti-nukes protesters (we call them hippies, here they're called 'mutants') who live in the bad part of town and dress like they believe victims of nuclear fallout would dress like... or they've seen Beyond Thunderdome one too many times. Oh, and The UK title, Night of the Alien, is even more deceptive in that the only alien conceivably involved in this one would have to be Marcos the asst. art director. And we're only basing that on his name and the assumption he actually did anything anyway. There is an actual killer cyborg (Edwin Neal as a Roman centurion-Phantom of the Opera moonlighting in a Gwar cover band) called 'Splatter,' and Eddie Pain who has a really cool name (much cooler than 'Splatter'), a fair amount of gratuitous tit shots, ridiculous gore and some wild and ...um crazy ...fraternities. ...
Hey, cool cover. -- Paul James
