SKINOPSISOne look at the gorgeous chest lumps of Brooke Adams will have you reaching out to snatch whatever part of her body that you can. She, post-pod conversion, walks totally unself-consciously through a factory with those gorgeous puppies hanging out. Sure, it sucks that she's been converted or whatver, but damn if cloning led to other hot ladies getting that, er, comfortable with their bodies, then we're all for it. -- Rick Stanko
REVIEW
One of the few instances in which a remake does justice to the original. In this updated and refurbished sci-fi tale, director Kaufman creates an unusually effective sense of dread to chillingly tell the story of pod people taking over the bodies of the citizens of San Francisco. Gutwrenching tension and good performances, especially from Goldblum and the marvelous Cartwright, heighten the enjoyment of this genre masterwork. Just try to forget that haunting (and unsettling) ending. And, yes, that is Kevin McCarthy (from the 1956 original) in the beginning.
