While bearing no identifiable likeness to the original 8mm, and certainly nothing to warrant sequel status, this soft-core thriller definitely contains more than enough sex, nudity and intrigue to stand on its own. The premise is simple enough; David Huxley, an aspiring politician is caught on film in a steamy threesome with his fiancée and a young model. Naturally, he is blackmailed for a large amount of money and all trails to the identity of the extortionist end in murder. As the couple are drawn deeper and deeper into the secret underworld of sex and pornography, the stakes are raised leading to an eventual kidnapping and a $5 million ransom. There are several bits of female nudity and sex strewn through out, usually featuring stars Lori Heuring (David’s fiancée Tish) and the drop dead sexy Zita Gorog (Risa). Nothing about this film registers as exceptionally good or bad, and with the glaring exception of the unfortunate title choice, 8mm 2 never tries to be anything more than it is: a late night cable TV erotic thriller.
