Hackman excels in this gripping psycho-thriller from the pen of Alan Sharp. Hackman plays an emotionally on-the-edge private detective who is hired to track down a wayward daughter (Griffith) in Florida. Penn provides able direction in this pessimistic film which captures the sanguine mood of post-Watergate America.
