SKINOPSISJulie Christie showed all for the first time in this powerful mind-bending mystery set in a haunted, atmospheric Venice. Quite controversial for the now notorious and extremely real sex scene between her and a very lucky Donald Sutherland. Recommended. -- Raw Staff
REVIEW
This stylish, visually beautiful mystery based on a novel by Daphne du Maurier established Roeg as a leading auteur. In addition to creating one of the most famous sex scenes in the history of the cinema, Roeg brilliantly taps into one of the most primal fears of many adults -- the death of a child. Christie and Sutherland are the bereaved parents who attempt to contact their child through a medium. Roeg's haunting imagery of winter in Venice is breathtaking.
