REVIEW
Guest relations expert at a Manhattan boutique hotel, 30-something Nora Wilder (Posey) sees men check out of her life faster than her hotel guests. Her mother (Gena Rowlands) and just-married friend, Audrey ("The Sopranos" Drea de Matteo), make her feel more pressured to get hitched, but Nora finds only humiliation on a series of disastrous dates. Then she meets Julian, a young, visiting Parisian who has her from “bonjour.” After initially declining his invitation to return with him to France, Nora quickly regrets her decision. Armed with Julian’s phone number (or did she forget to pack it?), Nora and Audrey hop a plane to Paris for a trip that could profoundly change their lives. Writer/director Zoe Cassavetes (daughter of indie icon John and actress Rowlands) provides a role that Posey shines in; one that seems to imagine a future for her Party Girl persona and affords the more mature (yet no less beautiful) actress a depth and a nuanced leeway that we haven’t seen before. She’s magnificent no matter how you phrase it, and so is Broken English. Editor's Suggestions
