"Remi Francois/alias Jack Palmer (played by Christian Clavier) is a private investigator in Paris with an enormous ego, thinking he is God's gift to women. He accepts a case given to him by an obscure little attorney: to find Ange Leoni (Jean Reno), a Corsican "citizen" who came into a huge inheritance. It seems like an easy job for Jack Palmer who is used to much more difficult missions. However, when he arrives on the island, the "really easy job" soon becomes an impossible mission. Palmer is trailed by unknown figures and his confidence steadily erodes when the locals stay mute to his questions about Leoni's whereabouts. A series of mishaps ensues when after spending time in the local bar, Palmer is kidnapped and mistakenly beaten by a policeman and his car is bombed! Turns out that the elusive Ange Leoni happens to be the Corsican mafia godfather as well as France's public enemy number one! Leoni baits Palmer with a wild goose chase around the island, never revealing himself. Things become even more dangerous when Palmer falls in love with Leoni's wife Lea, adding to an increasingly complicated situation."
