Laurel (Helene Joy) has moved to the beautiful but remote wilderness of Desolation Sound with her daughter and frequently absent husband, Michael (Ian Tracey). Their façade of tranquility is shattered when Laurel's free-spirited friend, Elizabeth (Jennifer Beals), arrives unexpectedly. After Michael leaves on another assignment, drunken confessions and exposed affairs lead to an argument and struggle in which Elizabeth falls to her death. Soon after, a reserved Laurel begins to take on the sexy, uninhibited personality of her dead friend. Is it guilt and obsession... or actual possession?
