Last of three films by Bigas Luna (with Jamón Jamón and Golden Balls) dealing with the very soul of Spain. This is a sweet, romantic story about three men in different stages of life who love the same beautiful young woman and are loved back by her. Nine year-old Teté, displaced from his mother’s side by his baby brother, wants Estrellita for her breast and her milk; Miguel, a teenager, is deeply infatuated with her as his first love, in part romantic but mostly sexual; Maurice, Estrellita’s middle-aged husband, is in love with the idea of her. In the end, all four characters are rewarded for their love.
