REVIEW
"She" (the mesmerizing Allen) meets "He" (Abkarian) at a point where she craves so much more than what life is giving her. Their affair is heated and undefined, filled with urgency and longing and, of course, kept from her husband (Neill). Accented with the examination of cultural and political differences, this is a story of seizing the moment, appreciating life and how the world is viewed from one’s point of view. Distinctively narrated through several different perspectives, including the "cleaner" (wondrously portrayed by Henderson), director Potter’s Yes is not an easy pill to swallow. Each line commands attention from her deeply passionate, poetic script which is translated beautifully with her visual interpretation. The performances are one of a kind and the unique blending of cinematic styles captured is certainly alluring. Despite some sobering scenes, Yes has plenty to offer and the last twenty minutes are everlasting, full of captivation. There is much to appreciate in this visually alarming, thought-provoking work of art even if it isn’t always pleasant to absorb.
