A classic Chabrol thriller set in a small town full of dark plots, delicious secrets, and multiple murders.

Stéphane Audran plays a cruel, wheelchair-bound invalid who bullies her teenage son (Lucas Belvaux) into abject obedience. When a conniving trio of real estate developers try to buy up their home for a lucrative project, and townsfolk start dying in a series of gruesome murders, it's up to the deceptively charming Inspector Lavardin (Jean Poiret) to get to the bottom of it all.

Followed by the sequel Inspecteur Lavardin. (French with English subtitles)
