REVIEW
Spanish horror star Paul Naschy has made something of a comeback in the past few years, appearing in a dozen films since 2000, including his first work in America in Countess Dracula’s Orgy of Blood and Tomb of the Werewolf. This film festival favorite, written by Naschy under his real name Jacinto Molina and directed by Christian Molina, is certainly the most personal of the lot, and is doubtless also the best — a must-see for Eurohorror fans.

Naschy is rock solid in a revealing role, while as a writer, he gives us more depth and imagination than in any of his previous scripts. Naschy’s played with the role of a damned and forgotten star before (in 1987’s Howl of the Devil), but not with such maturity and courage. As for the younger Molina, his directorial debut finds him a bit too desperate to impress with many creative camera moves and imaginative digital transitions, but they don’t distract from the story of an angry man’s descent into Hell.
