Jack (Nestor Carbonell) is a reformed womanizer, now divorced and living alone with his teenage son. He once had a glamorous career as a fashion photographer which then turned sour. Jack's life has now turned into a career of weddings and bar mitzvahs. To add to his chaotic life, his sister Jill (Janeane Garofalo) leaves her seventeen-year-old son with him while she goes off to find herself, meeting men on the Internet and experiencing her first lesbian affair; her ex-husband (the late John Ritter), who is down-on-his-luck with no job, moves in with Jack.
