The Big Bounce (2004)

Maverick director Armitage shows up with his first effort since 1997’s hit man comedy Grosse Pointe Blank. As a small-scale petty thief/beach bum chilling in Hawaii, the always engaging Wilson does his best to rise above the marginal material -- a particular challenge in this case because, despite being adapted from an Elmore Leonard novel, there is hardly any story here. A good cast is left hanging, desperate for something to do. Only newcomer Foster as the femme fatale type generates any energy. Like many of the surfers who populate the location of the action here, this one is a major wipe out.
