REVIEW
Elvis hasn't left the building. . . yet. He's been holed up at a Texas retirement home recouperating from a coma after switching places with an especially talented Elvis impersonator. Frail and full of regrets, Elvis (the incomparable Campbell) soon learns what's behind a rash of deaths at the old folks home: a 3,000-year-old Egyptian mummy who's sucking the souls of the living to stay alive. He's stumbled upon this with the help of John F. Kennedy -- yes, the former president -- who is also alive and now black (played by a good-spirited Davis). An outrageous premise that mixes humor and scares is, for the most part, cleverly handled, though the film does run out of a little steam by the end. No matter, though, for Campbell and Davis are game for quirky hijinks, and the chill/laugh ratio is enough to keep one amused and entertained. --David Bleiler
