REVIEW
More of an amateurish remake than a sequel, Wild things 2 doesn’t have much more to offer than the original. Keeping with the same concept as the first, only this time with completely new characters and a couple of extra last minute plot twists, the film lacks originality and is neither shocking or even slightly creative for that matter. If you’ve seen the first one, be prepared for a bad case of déjà vu.

When rich girl Brittney Havers’ (Susan Ward) stepfather kicks the bucket, she is incensed to learn that the inheritance will not go to her but a blood relative. A scandalous (and predictable) revelation is made that Maya King (Arcieri), Brittney’s bitter rival, is in fact the illegitimate offspring and thus sole beneficiary of the 70 million dollar estate.

You don’t have to be Nostradamus to see where all this is going.

We are soon treated to a virtually identical ménage a trois scene as in the previous movie. Only this time when the breasts come out, it’s an obvious body double. Throughout we are provided one likely plot twist after another. Everything that made the first so great is taken for granted here. The shocking bombshells are neither shocking nor explosive, the girl/girl action isn’t what it was in the first and the general mood is that of a late night cable TV movie. Still, it is enjoyable on several levels, providing it isn’t compared or in anyway associated to the first. If you are a fan of cheesy erotic thrillers, campy T&A flicks, teeny bopper B-movies or anything else of that ilk then you will probably get something out of this. Also be sure to stay through the closing credits, as they offer up some additional scenes that clarify some of the hazier bits and pieces (mirroring its predecessor until the end).

The principal hitch with this film is the cast. Where Neve’s Wild Things provided a fantastic ensemble cast, from Matt Dillion to Kevin Bacon to Denise Richards; this follow-up is occupied by relative unknowns. When the two girls kiss, the excitement is lost because A) we’ve seen it all before and it was essentially to be expected and B) for all intents and purposes this is nameless talent, not the recognized actresses of the first. One would assume that as a result there would be a surplus of sex to compensate, but then… one would be wrong. There is no more flesh or fun than in the original.
