REVIEW
All the telltale signs of "indie garbage" are there right at the beginning: bad narration, trendy, unfunny humor, toothless satire, and drab photography. Heed these warnings. Gummersall (Brian from TV's "My So-Called Life") plays a disaffected activist who squats with a group of like-minded folks who play at civil disobedience. Their routine is disrupted by the arrival of a "by any means necessary" anarchist who's all for violence to achieve social change. While borrowing from Fight Club, Heathers and other, better films (as well as the famous, titular book, which is only given passing mention), The Anachist's Cookbook learns nothing from them in terms of tone, style, or most importantly, a point. The film just drones on (along with that tiresome narration) until its ha-ha "humorous" twist ending, which means ... nothing. You Might Also Like
