REVIEW
The debut feature from Austin Chick intriguingly explores how charged-up emotions can carry on through many years and many relationships. At a subway station in the early 90s, Coles (Ruffalo of You Can Count on Me) meets Thea and follows her back to her dorm room. Thea introduces Coles to her friend Sam and a sizzling three way ensues. As the relationship between the three continue, Coles and Thea's bond becomes more intense and the relationship becomes awash in scandal and jealousy. Flash forward 8 years later. Coles is an animator with a steady girlfriend and crosses paths once again with Thea and Sam. What follows threatens to unravel the new lives these characters have created for themselves. Chick's debut feature meanders a bit in spots, but when it's on, it's very on. With assured performances, this modern sex fable has a lot to say about the nature of relationships, the power of love and the importance of honesty in each decision made. --Mekado Murphy
