REVIEW
Zus & Zo is a Dutch comedy about family, love and property rights. A feuding family owns a splendid tiled-roof beach hotel in Portugal. No one in the family seems to care about the hotel that the father has left to his son, Nino, provided that he marry a woman. There are three sisters: Michelle, a human-rights activist who takes in exiles and refugees, much to her husband's chagrin; Wanda, a single conceptual artist; and Sonya, a journalist with a philandering husband. Nino, their brother, previously known to be gay and in love with Felix, a television chef, has announced his impending marriage to Bo, a woman. Although the sisters have never expressed any interest in the property, they swarm on their brother in an attempt to prevent the marriage and gain control of the hotel. Their schemes even involve sending Sonya's adulterous husband to seduce Bo. Will the ex-gay brother wed a member of the opposite sex or will his handsome and still-in-love "ex" lure him back to gaydom? This frantic and madcap comedy entranced the Oscar-nominating committee, which gave it a Best Foreign Language Film nod, and one can see why. Lots of queer fun for the whole family - and we mean the whole GLBT community. (Dutch with English subtitles) Scott Cranin You Might Also Like
