REVIEW
Take all of the weaker elements of Cube: the stilted acting, the cheap sets and the constant blather of stressed-out participants, and subtract the scares, the gore, the utter mathematical logic of it all, and you get Cube². Like the first, eight people who are semi-related each wake up in a white room, with doors on all six sides leading to other seemingly identical rooms. Yet there's little rhyme to the layout, with space, time and alternate realities shifting seemingly at random, leaving the final discovery of the escape hatch almost up to chance. With so much unexplained for the first hour, it's an admittedly intriguing ride, until the realization sets in that none of it really matters and nothing too exciting is going to happen. Even worse is the pat ending, a downbeat revelation that isn't worthy of the weakest "Twilight Zone" episode. --David Gorgos
