REVIEW
Will someone please write Martin Lawrence a funny script. The affable comedian is cast, yet again, as a humorless fast-talker in yet another witless comedy. This time, he plays a police academy reject who, while trying to break into his own locked car, is stopped by police officer Zahn. A scuffle between the two men is captured on videotape, which looks as if Zahn is beating Lawrence, when in reality he is swatting away a bee. Zahn serves time for the "offense," and is hired by a security firm where -- hey, folks, this is where it gets really funny -- Lawrence is employed. They eventually team to stop a burglary ring, but not before executing every action comedy cliché of the last 20 years. This is by far Lawrence's least-likable on-screen character, and the usually reliable Zahn looks like he's wondering where his career went. --David Bleiler
