REVIEW
Cherish, even by independent film standards, suffers from trying too hard to be quirky. Awash in bright colors and nostalgic 80s music, Taylor's comedy tells the story of a lonely graphic animator (Tunney) whose life of longing is turned upside down by one encounter with a stranger. What begins as a fresh and alternative pop celebration turns too strange too soon. And even though the Jewish, gay, paraplegic dwarf character (Gil) in the film is reportedly based on a person that Taylor knew, the characterization still seems a bit much.

Nelson does fine work as a security specialist who falls for Tunney's character, and Tunney makes the most of the material. But the unevenness of Taylor’s screenplay makes it a difficult film with which to connect.
