Fast Food Fast Women

A look at a handful of oh-so-quirky New Yorkers, Fast Food Fast Women follows the romantic ups and downs of patrons of a coffee shop and their desire to find fulfilling sex and love lives. What you get, however, is one annoyingly cutesy scene after another in an uninvolving comedy underscored by dreadful, "aren't-we-having-fun?" tango music. The acting, under the circumstances, is fine, especially Argo and Lasser, as two senior singles attempting to find love late in life. It's rare to see a movie deal with the subject of older people seeking companionship and sex, so Kollek's cowardly retreat to sitcom-level dialogue and resolutions is particularly upsetting. Saddled with a ridiculous ending, Fast Food Fast Women achieves little more than placing irritating characters in irritating situations.
