Amy's O

Amy (Davis) is a successful, controversial author of self-help books dealing primarily with women's relationships. Her opinion of romance and the role of women in society can be found in her book "Why Love Doesn’t Work," and she's quick to comment that "women don't need men to be complete." Too bad she didn't take her own advice. Had she, she wouldn't have started an improbable romance with the shock-jock DJ who invited her on his show, and we wouldn't have to suffer through some of the clichés that make up this breezy but pretentious comedy. Davis attempts to create a vibrant battle of the sexes, but, in spite of an engagingly light directorial touch, comes up short. As such, Amy's O is never as smart as it pretends to be.
