REVIEW
Or, Number 8, for those still counting. Despite a ridiculous "explanation" for Michael Myers' still being alive, the opening of the film isn't bad, though it actually feels like the ending to a better film. The film proper is standard sequel cheese: Rhymes and Banks decide to cash in on the Myers craze by recruiting some photogenic college students to spend the night in Michael's old home in Haddonfield, while broadcasting the event live on Halloween night. The participants are equipped with personal cameras, allowing for some sub-Blair Witch, low-tech "scares." Poorly written, hugely unnecessary and mostly unscary, this still isn't the worst in the series (Part 5 retains that title). With its visual references to earlier sequels and occasionally interesting direction (Rosenthal also helmed Part 2), Halloween: Resurrection can be mildly enjoyed with a group of Halloween-fan friends (and a case of beer), but that's about the best that can be said for this time-waster.
