Katzelmacher

Based on his own Anti-Theater (his own theater company) play, this chilling parable of latent bourgeois fascism is set in a grim provincial town outside Munich, where a Greek immigrant, played by Fassbinder, becomes victim to the country's violent xenophobia. This simmering dislike for "guest workers" turns ugly as he becomes entangled with a group of vicious working-class toughs and their promiscuous girlfriends.
