Scooby-Doo, where are you? You're nowhere to be found in this ramshackle, big-screen live-action version of your popular animated TV series. Where's the humor that produced joyous, endless groans from those bad puns; where's the spooky fun that came from Mystery, Inc investigating the supernatural; what have they done to your human friends, who aren't even on the level of cardboard cut-out caricatures. And why do you look so funny? Is it because you're not drawn, but a horrible CGI effect? Why would you let the director of such minor fare as Big Momma's House and Never Been Kissed take control of your big-budget debut? Why is the plot about you and the gang splitting up and then reuniting so bad and the action scenes of you guys taking on zombies so poorly conceived as to make any of the TV shows seem Shakespearean in comparison? And Scoob, why is it that only Lillard even remotely captures his character Shaggy, while everyone else acts lost in limbo? Didn't the filmmakers see The Brady Bunch and The Addams Family to know how to successfully parody and pay homage? Scooby, better get in touch with your agent. . . and maybe a lawyer.
