Van Wilder (Reynolds) is a student forever matriculating, a BMOC by virtue of seniority and the ability to throw terrific parties. Is that a plot? Guess so. Reynolds is actually quite good in the lead, treading the line between laid-back cool and aloof feyness. But the closest Van Wilder comes to its Animal House aspirations is the appearance of Tim Matheson as Wilder's monkey jacketed dad. The movie's most notable feature is actually on the DVD, which features "topless menus." So now, for the first time, you don't even have to watch the movie to get the best parts.- David Gorgos
