Pearl Harbor without that film's big budget and poor script, Dark Blue World is an often moving war drama that follows a group of Czech pilots who join the British RAF to fight the Nazis, who have occupied their homeland. The tired cliché of two friends falling for the same woman (one of the many drawbacks of that Hollywood blockbuster) nearly sinks this passionate film, but Dark Blue World's quiet power and steely intensity remains untarnished.
