REVIEW
Words are inadequate when it comes to describing exactly how bad this remake actually is. This could have been fun; the Norman Jewison original had a neat premise, but watered it down with portentous dialogue and glacial pacing. At least it had an effective ending, and the game sequences were good. This disaster waters the premise down even further, making the film a vague, supremely dated statement against greed for TV ratings. How daring! Action fans could have forgiven the lack of substance, the wretched acting (what happened to Klein after Election?!), the tired direction, the risible dialogue and maybe even the Cuisinart editing, if the game sequences were enjoyable. They're decidedly not, like everything else associated with this mess.
