REVIEW
A picked-upon schlub (boss consistently humiliates him, friends cheat him, wife is sleeping around) wakes up one morning without a face. He turns this to his advantage by "anonymously" offing those who have wronged him. A clever revenge fantasy, Bruiser is extremely well directed by Romero, proving he's still got his chops. His script, however, is problematic, especially in its final third. Since the lead wears a mask the entire time, there's always a question of whether his lack of facial features is all in his mind. This ambiguity isn't played on enough by the end, and the killings get silly during the climax. The ending may fizzle, but the buildup is intriguing. Worth a look.
