REVIEW
The third film in Jean-Claude's oeuvre to provide Double the Van Damme-age. In this one, he portrays a sadistic serial killer who burns his victims, as well as the killer's clone, created by a government agency for military purposes, but used by cop Rooker to track down the psycho. Stupid, goofy and cheesy, Replicant is also one of Van Damme's better films (which, admittedly, isn't saying a lot), with a fun performance by Rooker and a surprisingly effective one by Van Damme as the killer. He's his usual good guy self as the clone, but he seems to revel in playing an evil bastard for a change. After a protracted start, Replicant becomes fast-moving fun, with nifty Van Damme vs. Van Damme fights courtesy of Hong Kong action director Lam.
