The Animal

Schneider plays Marvin, a nerdy clerk for the police department. His secret wish to become a police officer comes true when he begins to demonstrate superhuman powers. Could it have something to do with the mad scientist who rescued him from a near-fatal car accident? Surprisingly, what little comedy there is is of the tame variety . . . a sexual overture towards a goat is about as dicey as things get. Even considering its target audience of adolescents, The Animal is mild, unfunny tomfoolery. Schneider does little to contradict he's the new Pauly Shore, and by the time this is read, he'll probably be forgotten as well.
