Joe Dirt

REVIEW
The film walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, but research indicates that Joe Dirt is not a lame movie based on a lame "SNL" sketch. So, instead of adding this vehicle to the trash heap with It's Pat, add it to the trash heap with other original crap from "SNL" stars, like Billy Madison. Spade (who cowrote) stars as the titular soil, a white-trash mullethead who's searching for the parents who abandoned him. He tells his life story to a DJ (Miller, who's annoying in a different way), which sets up a bunch of episodic flashbacks. Dirt is such a pathetic, depressive character (and he knows it) that it's impossible to laugh when he encounters bumps on life's gravel road. Walken is forgettable in an extended cameo, which is really saying something.
