REVIEW
A towel boy (Fiennes) at a posh resort falls in love with a politician's beautiful young wife and they begin a torrid affair. When the husband finds out about it, he has the young man killed. Miraculously, the man survives the attempt on his life and. . . oh, never mind. If you stick with the film past this point, you may get a few unintentional chuckles out of it, but it's hardly worth the wait. The acting is across-the-board wretched, the story interminable and at times embarrassing, and the only evidence that Schrader's behind this is the Catholic guilt of Mol's character and the sporadic spiritual musings from Fiennes.
