REVIEW
A beautiful Canadian hockey player is transformed overnight into a supermodel/celebrity, and almost as quickly disappears from the spotlight. Director Arcand's pretentious satire is fairly redundant and obvious: the fact that many models are vacuous, many older men are obsessed with young women, and that the media are bastards is hardly news. Even the format of the film -- told almost exclusively through entertainment shows and mock-documentaries -- is old hat. Still, there are a few funny moments here, and Aykroyd and Langella are quite good. Paré is rather annoying (as she's supposed to be, presumably), but is refreshingly voluptuous for a supermodel character. Barely worth seeing for its fleeting moments.
