REVIEW
Basically this story of a bunch of people lost in the jungle and who are chased and killed off by a giant snake (as if you couldn't guess) succeeds at being suspenseful and fun at the same time. Where it doesn't succeed is in originality and in successful execution of its special effects. The computer-generated anaconda looks terrible, but fortunately is on-screen so little (until the end) and moves so quickly, that its artificiality can be overlooked by an extra-generous suspension of disbelief. Lopez is appealing in her first action role, Cube's character's fate is not what one would expect, and Voight spends the movie doing a bad impression of Al Pacino in Scarface. It may be brainless, but Anaconda manages to consistently entertain.
