The Arrival

Clearly cast against type, Sheen stars as a radio astronomer and all-around good guy who uncovers a secret government plot and intergalactic conspiracy. When he records a radio frequency spike from outer space and delivers the news to his boss (Silver), he is promptly demoted and his discovery is covered up and destroyed. Sheen soon follows a trail to Mexico where he uncovers the truth: the temperature of the Earth is increasing, making it habitable for alien life -- but deadly for humans! Pleasantly surprising, this medium-budgeted sci-fi thriller, though not entirely original (it is reminsicent of They Live), it is consistently engaging.
