REVIEW
Not as fresh or consistent as the original, this still very funny sequel provides many a laugh through potty jokes and expanded retreads in place of the first film's sharper wit and innocent naughtiness. Myers returns as delusionally sexy agent Austin Powers as well as his bald-headed maniacal nemesis Dr. Evil (who gets more comic mileage this go-round). Dr. Evil escapes his space exile to travel back in time to 1969, where he incapacitates Powers by stealing his "mojo." Like Samson without his hair, Powers must also travel back to get his "mojo" rising once more. The jokes are frequent (and frequently tasteless), while the multitude of espionage movie parodies have been replaced with more '90s pop culture references. Additionally, Myers' Scottish alter ego arrives here as Fat Bastard, a makeup marvel who becomes annoying after awhile. Faring much better are some great sight gags (a hilarious tent scene), and a classic montage where characters (with smart cameos) try to describe Dr. Evil's Freudian spacecraft.
