Bad Boys (Will Smith)

TV stars Lawrence and Smith trade off their sitcom personalities to good effect in this otherwise formulaic buddy movie/police actioner. The story begins when a friend is killed investigating murderous drug dealers. Teaming with an eyewitness (Leoni), they try to track down the killers while protecting their charge at the same time. Balancing comedy and action, the film is much more appealing when the two stars are snapping the one-liners rather than blasting the bullets. There are only two action sequences of note, but both are well-paced and very exciting. Though the subplot involving Lawrence's wife wears thin rather quickly.
