REVIEW
Martin wrote and stars in this good-spirited, funny look at a hack Hollywood producer who will go to any lengths to get his film made. Martin is Bobby Bowfinger, a 49-year-old movie producer who has some pathetic titles under his belt. He is convinced that he can sell his newest picture with superstar Kit Ramsey's (Murphy) participation. Ramsey won't do it, so Bowfinger hires a look-alike (Murphy again) and edits footage of him with surrepitiously shot footage of the real star. Some good-hearted laughs occur as Bowfinger resorts to every trick in the book, and Ramsey sees conspiracy all around him; though the thinly veiled digs at Scientology (here called "Mind Head") aren't as sharp as they could have been. Martin resorts to his manic personality with good results, and Murphy -- certainly in on the joke -- has a great time as the pampered movie star and his slow-witted double. Graham is nearly wasted in a redundant "sleeping your way to the top" role. You Might Also Like
