It's a meeting of '90s chic and aesthetic: visual artist Robert Longo and cyberpunk William Gibson team on the film adaptation of the latter's technothriller short story. But somehow some computer-generated wires got mighty crossed. Reeves stars as the title character, a high-tech courier working in a bleak future. With a computer-friendly head full of chips and wires, Johnny accepts one final assignment to transport some delicate information. But the ruthless Yakuza are on his trail, and they're after both the data and his head. Johnny Mnemonic is set at a lethargic pace, the action scenes are boring, the actors look distracted, and the story rambles from one pointless predicament to another. As a hired killer, Lundgren overshadows the rest of the cast -- and that about says it all.
